What is the quality of life like for someone working in the pharma industry?

I’m an undergrad right now majoring in bio-chem. I think want to go into the pharmacuetical industry. How is the job market for pharmacists just starting out? What is the workload like? What do you like about working in this industry? What should I be aware of?

The pharmacy industry is very oversaturated at the moment. Going to pharmacy school is a big financial commitment. Keep in mind that tech is changing things — within the next 10 years it’s likely the industry will be much more automated, and even more saturated. I’ve been in pharmacy for 20 years and while it’s been a great career, I wouldn’t recommend entering it now. It’s hard to find a job. Unless you are very passionate about pharmacy I would recommend other paths.
